I grew up in Missoula, Montana, learning music and woodworking in my dad’s shop. He was a classical guitarist and a craftsman, and I spent my younger years helping him build custom furniture for his business, KW Design and Manufacturing.
After moving to the Mission Valley in 2008 and finishing my home, I launched Mission Valley Music and later Mission Valley Woodworking.
Today, I combine those two passions—music and wood—to create furniture, custom guitars, cigar box guitars, and turned pieces made from reclaimed local trees that were headed for the burn pile or landfill.
My dad worked as a sawyer in Montana for over 16 years and built close friendships with local tree arborists. Because of those relationships, I often get the call when a local tree need to be taken down. Instead of letting those logs be thrown away, I reclaim them.
Almost all of the bowls and turnings I create come from local trees that were headed to the landfill. Storm-damaged maples, yard trees that had to be removed, old box elders that got too big for a neighborhood street—wood that was “in the way” becomes the starting point for a one-of-a-kind piece.

I build custom furniture from reclaimed Montana wood—tables, benches, shelves, and accent pieces made from trees that were headed to the dump.
Mission Valley Woodworking also builds hand-crafted electric guitars and cigar box guitars. Each instrument is made one at a time, often using reclaimed barn wood and salvaged materials, so no two are exactly alike.
These are unique pieces of art that can be played. Contact me to custom-order your guitar. Wait until you hear them.
